"The
work
that Sara did for Creativity for Peace Camp the summer of 2005 was
nothing
less than astounding. We are an
organization that sponsors teenage girls from Israel and Palestine to
fly
around the world and meet each other on neutral ground to create peace
with the
enemy. Our work is intense and unpredictable. Sara’s contribution to
the process was to create four
permanent peace poles. Sara’s
commitment and grace made them seem easy.” - Valerie Carpenter, Art Director,

"Many
feelings have been shared during the time this mural was created. I
would like to thank Sara for making
this possible. Thanks to all my
peers who helped me also. My
feelings in the beginning were negative. I fought these feelings and
found the
art therapeutic. I used this as a coping mechanism to make myself feel
better
and escape the reality of my problems.
My outlook on life is better now.
I hope other kids like myself can find themselves through the work of
art like I have.” -Matt, age 17

“Sara’s
commitment in the field of Art Therapy is evident in the manner in which
she
problem solves and is magical by how she encourages individual artists
to
create from within. I found her approach innovative and creative. She
will undoubtedly continue to
inspire everyone she has the opportunity to work with.” -Patricia

What others are saying...
She has a capacity for individual
thought probing deeply into the subject presented. Her innate creative
engagement combined with a quick mind and vast intellectual grasp stood out
from amongst her fellow students. Her leadership skills carry a deep
commitment, openness and enthusiasm.
Since then she has extended that leadership capacity to other settings always
with a desire to bring forth the fullest capacity of the people with whom she
is engaged. She has a deep and ongoing interest in her own growth and
development and models that for others. She is a true inspiration to people she
engages with. -Rosvita Botkin, PhD
I
was fortunate to receive Art Therapy supervision from Sara; it was the highest
quality supervision I received from my 6 or 7 supervisors. She was clear,
insightful, inquisitive, supportive of my learning and collaboratively
questioning. I felt both held and joined in discovery and learning. This speaks to Sara’s natural ability as an
educator, her supportive nature and her excellent training and practice. I feel
particularly able to comment on this as I have taught at the University and
College level for over 10 years, been in private practice as a Psychotherapist
and Art Therapist for 15 years, and now work clinically and managerially. I
also have a learning disability and have worked in the disability field with a
focus on poverty and diversity issues through the University of Hawaii. With my
background I can tell you that Sara is a find.
She is highly intelligent, creative, has vision and takes initiative.
Her laid back style brings a gentleness that is permissive and accepting. She
also holds high standards of excellence.

Personally, although I felt skeptical of
Art Therapy in an addiction outpatient modality, I have come to believe that
her combined skills with art therapy and talk therapy in such a setting have
been quite effective. Her facilities have elicited the sharing of experience
and feelings that would have otherwise been secreted. Hence leading to insight
I doubt would have realized without her help. -Mark Servatius, Addiction Counselor 20+

Allow me to express my admiration about your
workshop. It was very unusual, dynamic and productive. You organized the space so that we felt very
confortable and could speak without words. -Olga, Mosaic Mural participant
